Company
Librerías Crisol, a renowned Peruvian chain with the widest range of cultural and entertainment products, faced a technological challenge: its online store could not handle traffic peaks or the national expansion of its digital catalog.
Together with Amber, Crisol migrated and implemented a scalable cloud architecture on AWS, optimizing performance, availability, and customer experience during high-demand seasons like Black Friday and back-to-school campaigns.
Challenge
Crisol's e-commerce platform suffered from frequent outages, slow load times, and high operational costs.
Its extensive catalog and on-premise infrastructure limitations created bottlenecks that affected both online sales and brand perception.
Our proposal
Amber designed and implemented a modern cloud architecture on AWS, with high availability, autoscaling, and resource optimization.
The goal: ensure consistent performance, smooth experience, and reduced operational costs, even during peak traffic moments.
Key technology components:
- Amazon EC2 and AWS Auto Scaling: Elastic infrastructure that automatically responds to demand.
- Amazon RDS: Relational database optimized for large volumes of simultaneous queries.
- Amazon CloudFront: Global CDN to accelerate delivery of static and dynamic content.
- Amazon S3: Storage for files, images, and product catalog.
- AWS CloudFormation: Automated and replicable architecture deployment.
Implementation process
The project was developed in four main phases, applying agile methodology to build a scalable solution on AWS.
Phase 1: Discovery
Requirements gathering and bottleneck diagnosis to define scalability and performance goals for e-commerce.
Phase 2: Design and development (Cloud Modernization)
Design and implementation of AWS architecture with EC2, Auto Scaling, RDS, S3, CloudFront, and CloudFormation for elastic and automated infrastructure.
Phase 3: Validation and performance optimization
Load testing and adjustments to achieve high query speed, latency reduction, and operational cost optimization.
Phase 4: Launch and scalable operation
Production deployment with 99.9% availability, supporting 1,000+ queries/minute and average response times of ~180 ms.
Technical and business results
- 1,000+ queries per minute without interruptions.
- 80% reduction in query times.
- 180 ms average response time.
- 99.9% availability, even during national traffic peaks.
Operational and commercial impact
- Higher conversion and customer satisfaction thanks to faster navigation.
- Operational spending optimization by scaling only on demand.
- Smooth omnichannel experience, integrating physical and online stores.
- Infrastructure ready for regional expansion.
